Dr. Igor Weinberg at McLean Hospital (Belmont, MA) destroyed my life and I'd like to come forward about it. I took a medical leave from school for mental health issues and had been seeing a therapist at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA. There, I met the most emotionally abusive therapist I've ever met. Dr. Igor Weinberg refused to sign me off on my readiness to return to school all because I asked for his license number via email (he was acting very unprofessional at times so I wanted to inquire what his background was). He did not reply to my email and kept holding sessions with me, documenting all the things I said to essentially portray me as an unstable character. He eventually presented the following contract mandating me to submit myself to weekly drug tests due to the things I told him during therapy sessions ("I sometimes smoke a joint to relieve my anxiety"). I never expressed any suicidal ideations, yet he portrays me as a suicidal person in the contract. I was traumatized by this surprise contract (the therapist never let it be known that he was working on such a contract -- it was presented to me in a surprise in the presence of my treatment team). When his emotional abuse became unbearable in the last few sessions, I told him I have begun searching for other therapists. At that point, the therapist became mad and demanded that I immediately share other therapists' contact information with him so he can update them about my conditions and "coordinate" care (I think he was essentially sabotaging my chance to return to school). He even put that as a necessary condition to continue see him in the contract. I'm wondering if it's normal for a therapist to refuse to sign off on your readiness to return to school because you asked for a therapist's license number via email (I've been diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum and wasn't aware asking that question would lead to this). Below is the contract the therapist presented to me. When I felt that my therapist was acting unprofessionally, I emailed other therapists at the hospital and this seems to really ticked my therapist off, as he included one of the Doctors I contacted in the contract (letting me know that he knew I had contacted his colleagues). This is a treatment agreement between Mr. __________ and his treatment team at McLean Hospital Dr. _____ and Dr. ________ Mr. ________ agrees to the following: 1. Attend all appointments. 2. Complete all toxicology screenings. 3. Take all medications as prescribed, not take not prescribed medications, and discuss any side-effects or challenges with medication compliance in a timely fashion. 4. All treatment providers can communicate freely and openly with each other to coordinate care of Mr. ______. In case Mr. ___________ has been seeing or will be seeing other providers, he agrees to inform his treatment team Dr. _________ and _________ about these additional treatment providers and will provide consent to communicate with them as well. This includes such providers as clinicians who are involved in psychological testing, psychotherapy, medication management, diagnostic or evaluation consultations, group therapy or any other form of psychological and psychiatric services. 5. The team will meet with Mr. _______ quarterly or more frequently if clinically indicated, to discuss progress. 6. Dr. __________ and Dr. ________ will be discussing Mr. ______ treatment for consultation purposes with Dr. ______ (I had contacted this Dr. to report how my therapist was acting emotionally abusive and this seems to have really got my therapist mad). 7. In case Mr. _____ feels suicidal he should do whatever he can to refrain from acting on suicidal feelings, thoughts, or plans. In case he feels that he needs help in this process, he can page Dr. ________ by contacting McLean Hospital paging service at 617-855-2000. If he is unable to reach Dr. ________ or is unable to refrain from acting on suicidal thoughts, feelings, or plans, we recommend that Mr. ________ proceeds to the local Emergency Room: Mt Auburn Hospital Emergency Room 330 Mt Auburn St, Cambridge, MA 02138 (617) 499-5025 8. Mr. ______ agrees to not use internet, social media or similar platforms to threaten the well- being, reputation, or serenity of anyone during his treatment. This includes anyone from the treatment team of Mr. ______. 9. Mr. _____ agrees to not do anything damaging to his treatment team, to the reputation of the treatment team, threaten their licensure, or engage in any form of threatening behaviors. In case he engages in any behaviors of that kind, this will be seen as evidence of lack of alliance with the treatment team and the treatment will be terminated immediately. In that case, we recommend that Mr. _____ seeks after-care treatment at the treatment centers provided in Section 10. 10. Non-compliance with any of these treatment requirements, can lead to termination of the treatment. In case that happens, we recommend that Mr. ______ seeks after-care at any of the following treatment centers: LifeStance Health 781-725-5253 Northeast Health Services 508-663-3859 Riverside Outpatient Center at Somerville 617-354-2275 Aster Mental Health 617-299-2238 11. This treatment is voluntary and Mr. ______ is free to end it at any point. In case he decides to terminate treatment with his team Dr. _________ and Dr. ________, we recommend that Mr. ____________ seeks after-care treatment at the treatment centers provided in Section 10. I have been completely traumatized by this whole experience and I don't think I can ever trust a therapist again. I'm seeing other therapists, but I'm essentially telling them lies because I'm afraid how what I say might figure in a contract.

24:28 Own it (the anger, the aggression, even the doubt), integrate it! Don't fight it, don't be ashamed of it. That's it! We all too often defer that the psyche should work like the physical world: if I resist a physical force long and strong enough, I win and it goes away. Not so the psyche... The resistance and pushing unwanted things away in us only leads to them growing in the dark and becoming more strong and sabotage our well-being everywhere. And moreover if we can appreciate these "bad" tendencies in us we will see that they are just the right tool..... in the right context!

Understanding borderline traits has been such an answer to some missing puzzle pieces. I couldn't understand certain people's responses. I create and sell niche nutritional supplements for bodybuilders. I get a lot of very specific questions from a variety of people. This (as in the video) is how I was confronted when I didn't immediately remember a specific question one customer had discussed with me 2 weeks prior. Then, I was all they had in the world and I was the greatest. Then, they were going to turn my business around and re-work my website, but didn't, then they vanished. Then reappeared. I just tried to keep professional and polite. Ok, now I get it a little better.

I have only came accross MBT in the last 2 days. This is a brilliant almost archtypal demonstration of MBT. The student trainee has great acting skills, i felt very sorry for her. Their is almost a parental presence from the therapist, which i think is good for someone with BPD. As i worked in mental health in the UK in the employment field i have noticed that these particular clients have had very chaotic highly emotional homes where they grew up, with neither parent or single parent noticing the needs of the child, giving the child confusing and contradictory responses. The therapist here is been almost parental stepping in where the parent had not adequately done so many years earlier. He established a bond by explicitly making a promise and commitment that he will stick to. The slowing down technique is great for the patient's runaway emotions. A tough session for the patient no doubt, but the reward is the therapist been there the next session, whilst the patient doesnt have to get too carried away imagining otherwise, because of the promise he made. A functioning pattern of behaviour should hopefully set in through practice in these therapeutic sessions. The ideal would be for this to be mixed with group sessions, so that patient gets a broader sense of what she learned working for others, which should then reinforce her to understand others. With a catholic upbringing, one of the first things i learned is how we only get to know ourselves through the other.

I’m sorry but as someone with personal experience in regards to this topic and also someone who has sat through many lectures in this field This particular presentation was awful I appreciate that she acknowledged the diagnosis of BPD and suicide ideation/intent/self harm but it was so rushed if I didn’t already know this information I would I have taken nothing important said on board , left feeling almost confused about the direct correlation between BPD and suicide, confused about the differences made between BPD/suicide vs major depression/suicide, it was all over the place, the constant um’s were so distracting I wanted to count those rather than take in important information etc I understand she is obviously more so on the research side of the profession now rather than the direct treatment of patients suffering with suicidal tendencies but if you’re going to give lectures and presentations on something as serious as suicide regardless of the disorder or illness you need to stop trying to throw in bits and pieces of you’re research or skim over you’re research and instead not fumble over you’re words so they make an impact, are memorable, are exactly to the point and pick one topic which I assume she was attempting to do in regards to safety plans but it truly fell short I’m sure she is beyond amazing in her field otherwise Yale would not even choose her to give a lecture/presentation But if I was feeling literally exhausted and overwhelmed at the information that was fumbled and thrown at me even though a lot of this I already learnt/knew/experienced first hand

Saying that its not that the family or parents are 'bad', the child could also be 'difficult' is just as dumb as soley blaming the parents. Each case should be judged differently. What's a difficult child? And does severe physical abuse ( hitting the child's head on the wall, dragging them by their hair, then guilt tripping them and making them feel at fault for protesting that their boundaries have been breached a valid response to a 'difficult' child?) 😅 Some parents are fucked up, and bruise their kids on so many levels.

I'm not a Borderline, but I thought I was, until I turned 49. Well-I just found out about three years ago that my normal behaviours to bullshit and respecless treatment were not unnormal and wrong, just because the Narcissists in my life made me believe they were. I have Cptsd, am an HSP and neurodivergent human being. I can't bear watching this more than to the point the NARCISSISTIC! therapist told the supposed Borderliner woman that he had something more important to do and that's why he is late. That's why people display reactive "abuse", which is used against us by abusers and toxic people. The disrespect triggers me badly.

Most often Doctors MD Phd Psych professionals from a language perspective have no real idea what they are speaking of as it pertains to Psychology as intelligently there are numerous gaps in their analysis which is dependent on their apriori foundations: "relating to or denoting reasoning or knowledge which proceeds from theoretical deduction rather than from observation or experience. "a priori assumptions about human nature" "in a way based on theoretical deduction rather than empirical observation. "sexuality may be a factor but it cannot be assumed a priori"

I have quiet BPD and I’ve just been some of the hardest days of my life. I was already going through a deep depression with chronic suicidal ideation. Because of this and several other reasons I got extremely attached to my therapist. I started developing feelings for her and felt safe with her. She also struggled with installing boundaries, so that made it even more difficult and confusing. But it came to a point where she couldn’t handle my attachment anymore and cut off the appointments. I know she’s only human, and everyone has their limits. But it was devastating and I was in some of the most pain I ever endured. I almost killed myself. Luckily with the help of one of my best friends I pulled through. Never give up!

All I see is "this is exactly how you're fucked up" and "this should go back in the DSM" so now I know how I'm fucked up but the glory of the disorder makes me want to lean into it because I know other people have it worse so why should I even try.

10:50 - on Manipulation: So many therapists have told me that our daughter is "just manipulating you" when I see that she's having trouble and needs help in the moment and I help her in her explosion moment. "Coercing" is more of what manipulation means, when there's some "talking someone into something to get what they want" type-of -thing. Yes?

There is nothing entertaining about BPD. The person with BPD is a mentally ill person with a personality disorder which should be contained and restrained in a mental facility, but first should be held accountable in a court of law for criminal charges which they caused to spouses and children. So you write a grant, submit it, receive millions of dollars, the. Select and interview people only 4 times a year and you produce common knowledge with no solution for anyone. This is another great example of why the Government has no business being in business. Wasted funds without resolution services. And this states 10 years ago. I wonder, what data do you have of current conditions with the Cluster B $hit $how Circus and the trail of trauma and destruction without any accountability and responsibility for their words and actions?

As a patient she would have every right to be upset as she is paying for the session and the delay in answering would set most people off as they would assume he's thinking about the lie or excuse he was going to make as opposed to answering immediately like any normal person would do. Most people would come into the room and apologize immediately followed with the excuse for being late. Not pause annoyingly as he did. This interaction gives me the impression that he was purposefully pushing his patence buttons to entice the reaction he got as a way to provide an example of a better way to deal with this type of unprofessional behavior, from a therapist, when it happens. It's delusional to think the therapist wouldn't care though, as that's how they make their living. There is nothing more annoying than attending a doctors appointment on time and having to wait an hour to get into see them & this happens all the time. Hell, even if you go to the Hospital Emergency area they make you wait instead of taking care of you immediately which is actually unprofessional and dangerous. Some unqualified receptionist makes the decision that your emergency isn't top priority. In some cases it can be a matter of life or death. Oops, sorry about that, it didn't seem quite so serious. I myself, have a very difficult time with my own doctor who is a complete jackass and if there wasn't a shortage of doctors I would most definitely seek out another. The last time I went to see him, which was about a year ago, he was actually wearing a mask. Any educated doctor knows they don't work and he admitted that when I confronted him about it. Not only that, he then proceeded to ignore the real reason I went to see him in the first place and did not help me properly. I left the office with no help and have had to find other ways to deal with it. I know this is off topic but thought some of you might be able to relate.

Our daughter agreed that she had 8 out of 9 on the list way back when she was 11. She's 16 now. We've been trying for years to get a DBT therapist for her to no avail. Very disheartening. She's getting pretty severe with some of the main 'symptoms' and we really could use some help for her.

Whoever was in charge of the camera needed to get fired. You're horrible at what you do. Regardless, this dr is amazing, great work! 😊
